Played the back 9 while in the area last week. Course is being restored with all 18 in play this week. The back showed the bones of a restoration to Ross. Looking forward to playing all 18 down the road.
Savannah Golf Club is a lovely course retaining a good portion of its history but as Toby Browne pointed out, the first and second were re-routed from original design to enable a larger clubhouse and practice range and other features required by membership in the modern age. Of particular note are the former ramparts of the Civil War fort that stood there before the course which now require channeling your tee shot on several holes.
Wilmington Island was a fun course but did not have the same feel as Bacon or Savannah Golf Club.
