"Designed by legendary architect Donald J. Ross, the 1928 layout is widely considered his masterpiece. Aronimink rewards precision over power, with rolling fairways, strategic bunkering, and classic green complexes that demand thoughtful shot-making. It’s a course that challenges every part of a player’s game and is bound to provide a challenge to the best players in the world during the 2026 PGA Championship."

"Donald Ross had one of the most prolific, impressive careers in the history of golf architecture. Yet his design methods and ideas are not as widely and precisely understood as those of, say, Alister MacKenzie or C.B. Macdonald. So in this episode, Garrett sits down with Bradley Klein, a longtime golf architecture writer and golf course consultant, to answer some Ross-themed questions asked by members of Fried Egg Golf Club." "Sara Bay figures prominently in American golf history. Its golf course, which opened in 1926, has long been regarded as one of the best Donald Ross-design layouts in the country. Recent renovation work overseen by architect Kris Spence restored the greens, green surrounds, and angles of play Ross originally designed, but that were changed over the course of a century of play. In 1926, the course famously hosted the “Match of the Century” between Walter Hagen and Bobby Jones."

"Ross said the course – which opened in 1927 as Dunedin Isles Golf Club – was one of his finest works, praising its “ideal combination of rolling hills, waterways, and natural hazards.” When the city approved a full restoration, the goal was clear — to return the course to its Golden Age roots. For Spence, that meant uncovering the past in a very literal sense."

"The club has hosted four U.S. Opens on its Donald Ross layout, including the 1979 event, which involved crews planting a spruce between the first and second rounds to block a shortcut Lon Hinkle discovered on the eighth hole. The Cleveland Browns or Cincinnati Bengals are more likely to win a Super Bowl in the next 19 years than a mid-tournament tree planting occurring during the 2045 U.S. Open. The 1979 tournament marked the last U.S. Open played in Ohio."

"The Donald Ross-designed course has been modified several times over its history, most recently through Andrew Green’s acclaimed efforts to restore the layout to its early 20th century feel. The par-71 layout can play to over 7,700 yards, with 90 bunkers and small, undulating bentgrass greens acting as its defense."
"Brookside Country Club has named Tyler Rae as its architect of record and unveiled a restorative master plan for its Donald Ross designed golf course. The first multimillion-dollar restoration includes the complete rebuilding of four green complexes, green expansions across the course, a full bunker renovation, fairway widening and a re-grassing of all playing surfaces. It represents one of the most significant Ross restoration projects currently underway in the country, according to the club."

"Founded in 1903, Inverness has hosted four U.S. Opens (1920, 1931, 1957, 1979), as well as two U.S. Senior Opens, one U.S. Amateur and most recently, the 2019 U.S. Junior Amateur. Ted Ray won the 1920 U.S. Open at Inverness by one stroke over four players, including Harry Vardon. The championship also marked the U.S. Open debut of four-time champion Bob Jones, who finished tied for eighth."
