"Founded in 1895, Salem originally opened in Salem, Massachusetts, before moving to Peabody in 1926, where Ross designed the course on the former Sanders Farm. It didn’t take long for the USGA to arrive, as six years later, Virginia Van Wie defeated Glenna Collett Vare, 10 and 8, to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur, the first of three consecutive titles for Van Wie."

"High praise from two-time U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, for the work of Tyler Rae, ASGCA, on the North course at Detroit Golf Club. The course hosted this year’s Rocket Classic on the PGA Tour, and drew great admiration from spectators, sportscasters and players alike. 'They’ve made some cool changes,' added Cameron Young, one of many players who spoke glowingly about the results."

"The scale of the work has been monumental. 'Seminole deserves the very best and this membership was committed to providing all that was necessary to ensure its future,' says club president Jimmy Dunne III. Through the leadership of Dunne and Nelson Caron, Seminole’s director of golf course operations, the course has seen every green rebuilt and expanded, and every bunker refined – many of them pinched in closer to landing areas – and rebuilt to endure and remain playable for many years."

"'She's like fine wine,' Waniolek said. He continued, 'We get comments all the time from people that have played here for 50 years that it's in the greatest shape it's ever been.'"

"The late, famed architect Donald Ross designed the 18-hole golf course which sits at 311 Donald Ross Drive. The Muni has come a long way in Donovan’s 19 years at the course. He said when he arrived in 2007 the course was “pretty ragged,” but has since evolved."
“ ABC affiliate WTVD — which covers the North Carolina communities of Raleigh, Durham and Fayetteville — reported that historic Stryker Golf Course at Fort Bragg will shut down at the end of the month. The 18-hole Donald Ross-designed golf course opened in 1946 and sits outside of Fort Bragg’s gates at the end of Bragg Boulevard, across from the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds.”

"Even the closest of brothers look to pulverize one another in competition. This was undoubtedly the case at the North and South Open held at Pinehurst Country Club in April 1907. The tournament hinged on the battle between Scottish expat siblings, both employed as professionals at Pinehurst – head man Donald Ross, 34, and his kid brother and assistant, Alex Ross, 27."

"The biggest changes as part of the restoration project, overseen by New Jersey-based architect Tyler Rae, involved the bunkers, which are deeper, and the greens, which are bigger. There also now is tall, wispy fescue grass, more length to the par 4s and more ditches that players must contend with on a historic Donald Ross course that, during the Rocket's run, often has been criticized by fans and many in the media as being much too easy for players of PGA Tour-caliber."

"Donald Ross would eventually become Pinehurst’s golfing genius, but the stage upon which he worked had already been established by the Olmsted vision—a village where golf was inseparable from landscape."

"In 2023, pine trees were removed between the first fairway and the third tee and replaced by four fescue mounds, which are featured in many Ross designs. Three more mounds are planned to be constructed this year closer to the third tee for a total of seven, a tip of the cap to the Seven Hills of Worcester."
